Case for a WiFi relay module
A module ready to fit on the wall, with access to the button and a reading of the LEDs without opening the enclosure.
The challenge
A WiFi relay module compatible with eWeLink was to be installed next to the door entry phone of a home so that the door could be opened remotely. The module comes bare, with no case: leaving it like that means electronics on show, unsecured and exposed.
The constraints
The enclosure could not limit the device. It had to remain possible to press its physical button and see its indicator lights without opening it, and it had to be wall-mounted discreetly in a spot visible from the entrance.
The solution
A case designed around the dimensions of the module, with threaded inserts to secure it from inside, two holes with countersunk screw seats for wall mounting and openings for the power and contacts to pass through. An external button operates the physical button of the relay and a translucent front channel makes its LEDs visible from outside.
The enclosure keeps every capability of the module intact: it is still controlled from the phone app or from any compatible home automation system, and both the internal button and the indicators remain accessible without opening it.
Installed next to the door entry phone, the assembly is protected, tidy and visually at home in its surroundings.
