Enclosure compatible with Johnson Controls XT-9100
Several modules go back on their rail with a complete enclosure and a firm fixing.
The challenge
Radwell International needed to replace the enclosures of several Johnson Controls XT-9100 modules, a unit the manufacturer no longer produces. Several units of the same model, destined for installations already running, and one original enclosure to work from.
The constraints
They had to be replicas of the original, not boxes that merely resembled it. The module mounts next to the controller on the same 35 mm DIN rail and shares the row with the rest of the installation, so the stepped profile, the terminal openings and the fixing dimensions left no room for interpretation. And with several units involved, they all had to come out the same.
The solution
Enclosures printed in FDM in ASA, reproducing the stepping and the openings of the original from the dimensions of the reference part. The tab that hooks onto the rail is printed separately in resin: it is the part the module's firmness depends on, and resin gives the precision demanded by a small part whose job is to fit, with no layers leaving a weak direction that could give way when clipping it on. Being fitted as a separate part, it can be replaced on its own without remaking the enclosure.
